An IBCLC stands for International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. IBCLCs are the highest accredited healthcare professional that specialise in Lactation. This is the only internationally recognised qualification for breastfeeding. IBCLC’s are required to have a health science background, hundreds of hours of clinical breastfeeding experience and pass a very extensive exam. Every 5 years, IBCLCs complete a rigorous recertification process to stay up to date with all the latest lactation research.

I am there to help you with feeding. In the hour before the appointment, please avoid feeding your baby a full feed. Sometimes half a feed is enough to get your baby through till the appointment time. This way baby should be alert and ready to feed during the appointment.
I can help you with your own equipment so please have all your other feeding equipment ready. Bottles, breast pumps, expressed milk or formula, pillows.
